From the outset, the Tournament Players Club was destined to be a special course. The culmination of a long-held dream to establish a “home club” for the members of the PGA TOUR and a permanent site for THE PLAYERS Championship, the Tournament Players Club Sawgrass became a reality in 1980. Located 20 miles southeast of Jacksonville and designed by Pete Dye, the Tournament Players Club Sawgrass was built for major tournament golf and for a nationwide membership. From the beginning, the design of the course included special amenities for spectators, and its spectacular 18th hole affords elevated viewing areas for more than 40,000 galleries. Ranked as #5 among Golf Magazine’s "Top 100 Courses You Can Play," the TPC Sawgrass is the home of THE PLAYERS Championship in May, which hosts an elite international field of past champions including Tiger Woods, Davis Love III, Fred Couples, David Duval, and Greg Norman. Treacherous and sand waste areas, watery oppositions on every hole, and Scottish link style bunkers are signatures of this famed par-72 course.
